ArtCraft Guide

ArtCraft system requirements

The sixteen ArtCraft apps are native desktop programs. This page covers what the project publishes about platforms, what it leaves out, and how to check your own machine before installing.

Operating systems

The official lineup lists macOS, Windows and Linux installers for the desktop apps, and the launcher covers all three platforms.

Linux gets more attention than it usually does in this category: the project publishes a dedicated Linux repositories page, which suggests packages rather than a single tarball.

For other architectures, the launcher page links an all-downloads release page. Check it before assuming your machine is supported, particularly on unusual Linux or ARM builds.

Which apps have a browser build

Most apps on the lineup carry a web badge, which means they can be tried without installing anything. That is useful for evaluating an app on a locked-down machine.

FilmCraft is the exception: it is listed with desktop installers and no web build, which is consistent with video editing being the hardest thing to do in a browser.

A browser build is not the same product. Expect feature gaps and no access to local files without an explicit upload, so treat it as a preview rather than a working setup.

What the project does not publish

There is no single system requirements page listing minimum RAM, disk space or GPU needs per app. Each app page carries its own installers and whatever notes the team has written.

That is normal for an early project and it is a real inconvenience: you cannot size a machine from one table. The practical approach is to install the one app you need and watch how it behaves on your actual files.

Disk space is less of an issue than it used to be for creative suites, because these are native Rust builds rather than a bundled browser runtime. Sixteen apps still take space; install what you use.

A pre-install checklist

1. Confirm your OS appears in the app's platform list, including your architecture.

2. Prefer the launcher, which installs and updates everything from one source, unless you only need one app.

3. Have a backup of any file you plan to open. This is an alpha, not a question of trust.

4. On Linux, check the repositories page before building from source.

5. If disk space is tight, install a single app rather than all sixteen.

Questions

Does ArtCraft run on Apple Silicon?

The downloads page lists supported architectures. Check it rather than assuming.

Is there a Linux build?

Yes. Linux installers are listed, and the project publishes a Linux repositories page.

How much RAM do I need?

The project does not publish a single requirements table. Test with your own files.

Can I run it without installing?

Most apps have a browser build you can try, but it will not match the desktop app feature for feature.
